I just found that Steven Sinofsky is writing about the history of Microsoft on his Hardcore Software Substack, which is something I’m interested in reading. I’ve read a bit about the histories of Apple, Google, and a few other tech companies, but nothing that seems this extensive about Microsoft.
I suspect this will be somewhat nostalgic for me, as my own experience with software and development started with Windows and Microsoft technologies. The first programming language I learned was QuickBASIC, and from there Visual Basic and C.
Here’s a helpful summary of some modern approaches to Java/JVM based server development.
I’m curious how many users there are out there with Java + frameworks like Micronaut or Quarkus. Or combos like Kotlin and Spring Boot?

Reading this blog post on Dropbox’s migration from a legacy monolith to a hybrid system. Finding lots of bits of inspiration here! I love the idea of providing incremental value as they work toward a long term vision.
